IMPORTANT DEADLINE DATES FOR SUMMER, 2004

DEFINITION OF SUMMER

• Summer begins with Monday of Week 49 (June 7, 2004) or the close of the school year, whichever comes first, and ends prior to Monday of Week 4 (July 26, 2004) for fall sports and Monday of Week 5 (August 2, 2004) for all other sports.

RULE 15-3.1 CAMPS AND CLINICS

• For all school-sponsored camps and clinics, and non-school-sponsored camps and clinics for fall sports, attendance must be terminated prior to Monday, Week 4 (July 26, 2004).

• For non-school-sponsored camps in other sports, attendance must be terminated prior to Monday, Week 5 (August 2, 2004).

RULE 15-3.2 OPEN FACILITY PROGRAM AND CONDITIONING PROGRAM

• Operation of open facility programs must be terminated prior to Monday of Week 4 (July 26, 2004) for all sports. These programs may begin again on the first day of school.

• A conditioning program may be extended through Saturday of Week 4 (July 31, 2004). These programs may begin again on the first day of school.

RULE 15-3.3 MORATORIUM

• Effective in 2004-05, each member school shall observe a moratorium during the week which includes July 4^th (July 4-10). During this seven-day period, there shall be no contact between athletes and coaches, and no athletic activities conducted.
