Chris Kaufman
As the IHSAA’s Communications Director, Chris Kaufman works closely
with Sports Information Director Jason Wille and serves as the spokesperson for
the Association. In addition, he serves as a liaison with the IHSAA’s various corporate partners, produces various
newsletters and press releases and also provides support at its 20 state
championship events.
Kaufman came to the IHSAA in 2006,
following a 16-year career as Director of Marketing and Communications for Cathedral High School
in Indianapolis.
In addition to his administrative duties, Kaufman served as an assistant
football coach for 16 years and assistant baseball coach for seven years. Since 1993, Kaufman has also served as the
Sports Information Director for the Indiana Basketball All-Stars who compete
annually in the Indiana/Kentucky All-Star Series. In addition, he has assisted in events such
as the Indiana Football North/South All-Star Game, two men’s and one women’s
NCAA Final Four Championship tournaments, Women’s Big 10 Championship
tournament, and numerous invitational and classic events. In 2000, Kaufman was awarded the Ken Leffler Memorial Award by the Indiana Football Coaches Association for his contributions.
Kaufman graduated
in 1990 from the University
of Indianapolis earning a
B.S. degree in Business Administration while playing for the Greyhounds
Football and Baseball teams on scholarship. He competed as a place-kicker and
punter for the Greyhounds earning All-Conference and Pre-Season All-American
honors. A Kokomo native, Kaufman graduated from Northwestern High School in 1984, earning eight varsity
letters in football, basketball and baseball.
Kaufman and his
wife, Stephanie, have two children, Mary Katherine (Katie), and Blake. Stephanie is a graduate of Warren Central
High School and was a member of the school’s 1984 State Runner-Up basketball
team. She was named an Indiana All-Star
and played collegiately at the University
of Indianapolis. They
reside in Indianapolis.
