CARMEL GRABS 8TH GIRLS SOCCER CROWN

Carmel High School took home its 8th IHSAA Girls Soccer Championship with a 2-0 win over Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday, October 30 at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis.  For the Greyhounds, it was their 5th in a row, to go along with wins in 1994, 1995 and 1997, all under Head coach Frank Dixon.

Carmel got a pair of goals from Missy Gordon (10) in their shutout win.  Christine Check (12) and Angie Muir (12) had assists on the Gordon goals.

The Greyhounds reached the state finals game following a 4-0 victory over Evansville Central earlier in the day.  Fort Wayne Snider had fought its way into the championship matchup with a 2-0 triumph over Concord.

Carmel finished the year at 21-2-1 and was ranked No. 2 in the final poll of the regular season.
