2005 IHSAA BASEBALL FINALS AWARDED TO LAFAYETTE

At the monthly meeting of the Indiana High School Athletic Association Executive Committee at the IHSAA offices in Indianapolis on Friday, November 05, 2004, the 2005 IHSAA State Baseball Championships were awarded to Loeb Stadium in Lafayette Park in Lafayette, Indiana.

Due to a scheduling conflict with the Indianapolis Indians, Victory Field in Indianapolis would not be available of use on June 18, 2005, the scheduled date for the state finals. That necessitated the move and, after consideration of a number of sites, Loeb Stadium was deemed to be the facility which best fit the needs of the IHSAA and was approved unanimously by the Executive Committee.

Loeb Stadium seats slightly over 3,000 fans with the feasibility of increasing the seating capacity to over 4,000 with the addition of bleacher seats through the cooperation of Lafayette Jefferson High School.

The Lafayette Police Department has estimated that there are 1,291 parking spaces within ¼ mile of the stadium and 4,915 parking spaces within ½ mile of the stadium.

The schedule calls for a single championship contest on Friday, June 17, at 7:00 p.m., with three games on Saturday, June 18, beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Friday evening contestants will be determined, based on geography, following the semi-state games on June 11, with the Saturday games in ascending order according to class.
