FIELD OF 384 SCHOOLS DRAWN FOR 93rd IHSAA BOYS STATE BASKETBALLTOURNAMENT

 

   A field of 384 teams will begin play at 64 sectional sites March 4th in the 2003 IHSAA Boys Basketball Tournament Series. Sectional play will continue on March 7th and 8th, with regional play scheduled for March 15th, semi-state action on March 22nd and the state finals at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday,  March 29th.

 

   The defending state champions are: Rossville in Class A; Speedway in Class 2A, Delta in Class 3A; and Gary West Side in Class 4A. 

 

   State finals play will begin with Class A at 10:30 a.m., followed immediately by the Class 2A game. After a mid-afternoon break, the second session will begin with the Class 3A championship game at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Class 4A title game.

Formats

5-Team Fields

Will play one first-round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m., two semifinals games on Friday beginning at 6 p.m., and the championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Note: The team drawing the first-round bye will play the Tuesday night winner in the second semifinal game on Friday.

6-Team Fields

Will play two first-round games on Tuesday beginning at 6 p.m., two semifinals on Friday beginning at 6 p.m., and the championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Note: The two teams drawing first-round byes will play in the second semifinal game on Friday.

7-Team Fields

Will play 1 first-round game on Monday or Tuesday at 7 p.m., two games on Tuesday or Wednesday beginning at 6 p.m., two semifinal games on Friday at 6 p.m. and the championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
