The C. Eugene Cato Mental Attitude Award is presented to an outstanding senior participant in the boys soccer state tournament, who has been nominated by his principal and coach and who excels in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability. The award is named in honor of the former IHSAA commissioner who helped soccer become the IHSAA’s 10th sponsored sport for boys and girls.

Farm Bureau Insurance, the IHSAA corporate partner, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Evansville’s Reitz Memorial High School in the name of Kent Melchiors.
