Following
up on last night’s girls title, Warren Central made it
a sweep of this year’s IHSAA track championships by also capturing the boys
crown for the first time in 10 years on Saturday in
Warren
picked up only one title in the 400 relay, but coach Dennis McNulty’s crew
accumulated 74 points to win the program’s third track championship overall (1995,
1996). They were followed by second-place Fort Wayne Northrop with 45,
third-place Ben Davis with 42 while Indianapolis Bishop Chatard
and
It was the
second time in three years that a school took both championships matching Fort
Wayne Northrop in 2004. The Warriors also won the cross country championship
last October marking the first time a school has won both boys running crowns
since

Andy
Weatherford of Greencastle, the defending champion, edged Warren Central’s De’Sean Turner by .07 in the 1600 meters in one of the
closest races of the day.
Bryce Brown
of Evansville Harrison won the 300 hurdles with a 36.56, just off his record
time of 36.34 from 2005. He also went after his second straight championship in
the 110 hurdles, but settled for second place as Chris Brautzsch
of Fort Wayne Wayne nosed him out with a 13.82, .06
better than Brown.
Scott Wims of Fort Wayne Northrop won both sprint events
repeating in the 200 meters to become the meet’s only individual double winner.

Mental Attitude Award
Members of
the IHSAA Executive Committee announced Chris Brautzsch
of
Brautzsch
won this year’s 110 meter hurdles event and was also a member of
Academically,
he owns a 3.65 GPA and ranks 28th in his senior class and has been
an honor roll student throughout his high school career. The last two years, he
has been a member of the National Honor Society.
He is
currently undecided about his college choice but is interested in studying
criminal justice at either
Indiana
Farm Bureau Insurance, the proud corporate partner of all IHSAA tournaments,
presented a $1,000 scholarship to
