"Promoting education based athletics in Indiana"
I've been asked many times, what is the meaning of being a good leader? In sports, like in the business world, good leaders are important and hard to come by.
Most coaches will tell you they need them, some players will say they would like to become one, but most teammates say it's a big responsibility and difficult to achieve.
John Quincy Adams once said that "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader."
Being a leader takes experience and patience. Being a leader requires hard work and knowledge. Being a leader means doing what others may not want to do.
So the next time your coach says he (she) is looking for a leader, and you want to take the lead role, take into consideration the quote from Adams. Just be sure to implement your own style and technique!
