Do you stay up to date with the rules of your sport? What rule changes have taken place in the last year or two? The IHSAA sends out the rule revisions and rule books to each coach before the start of their season and also posts them at ihsaa.org.
The main reason to become familiar with the rules is not to try and circumvent them, but instead, knowing what you can and can't do in order to become a better athlete and teammate.
Teams usually go over all new rule changes before the start of each season, and in most cases, with a certified official. However, it's your responsibility as a student-athlete to embrace the challenge of knowing them and how to apply them to your sport.
