The decision to return to Fort Wayne was one of four significant items resulting from the IHSAA Executive Committee's final meeting of the 2009-10 school year on Thursday. The Committee also approved a format change to the volleyball state tournament, approved Ball State's Worthen Arena as the host site for the gymnastics state finals and eased transfer rules with regard to school closures.

Lafayette Central Catholic (1A), Heritage Christian (2A) and Andrean (3A), all repeat state champions, were joined by Carroll (Fort Wayne) (4A) which won the first state title in any sport in school history during the 44th Annual IHSAA Baseball State Finals.

Brebeuf Jesuit won its first golf state championship as a team and Avon's Patrick Rodgers took the individual crown during the 74th Annual IHSAA Boys Golf State Finals at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin. Following the meet, Evansville North's David Mills was presented as the Fred A. Keesling Mental Attitude Award winner.
