Volleyball State Finals Saturday in Muncie
Twelve of last year's 16 finalists have advanced to the 2009 state finals including defending champions Muncie Burris in Class 2A and Marquette Catholic in Class A. The 38th Annual Volleyball State Finals are set for Saturday, Nov. 7 in and around the Muncie area.

Forty sectional champions were tabbed Friday night and move on to the regional round next Friday in the 37th Annual IHSAA Football State Tournament presented by the Indianapolis Colts.

Red Gold IHSAA Sportsmanship Award

Red GoldWe are very pleased to announce the creation of the RED GOLD IHSAA SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD which will recognize the outstanding efforts of individual schools to promote sportsmanship and student leadership in their schools during each of the fall, winter and spring seasons. At the conclusion of each season, RED GOLD will present a $2,000 cash award to the school that best exemplifies good sportsmanship in all areas of their athletic programs both on and off the field. RED GOLD will recognize the Sportsmanship Award recipient during one of the IHSAA Championship events at the conclusion of each season.  The IHSAA Student Advisory Committee is soliciting information directly from each school to determine the award recipient.

Nominations for this award may be submitted through an online form, by Athletic Directors or Principals.  Member schools may submit their nominations at any time during the 2009-10 school year, but only entries submitted by November 10, 2009 will be considered for the Fall Award.  The winner of the Red Gold Sportsmanship Award will be presented with a $2000 check during the IHSAA Football State Championships.

Zionsville Boys, Cathedral Girls Win Soccer Crowns
The Zionsville boys won the school's first soccer championship and the Indianapolis Cathedral girls won their second in three seasons during state finals festivities at Kuntz Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday.

Columbus North, Underclassmen Reign at Cross Country Finals
Columbus North swept both team championships while Terre Haute North freshman Tapring Goatee won the girls race and North Central sophomore Futsum Zeinasellassie captured the boys competition in Terre Haute.

Brebeuf Jesuit, Zionsville Players Capture Singles, Doubles Crowns
Brebeuf Jesuit's Dougie Barnard rallied from a set down to win the singles title and the Zionsville team of Joe Hammond and Nick Laconi became the first repeat doubles winners since 1969 and 1970.
