In Class 2A, Bluiett's heroics push Park Tudor to 3rd title in 4 years
Four-year starter Trevon Bluiett and the Park Tudor Panthers applied the finishing touches to an impressive triple in Class 2A. Three boys basketball state championships in four seasons are no small accomplishment.

In the 2014 finale, Bluiett totaled 38 points and 12 rebounds as the Panthers captured an 84-57 victory over the Westview Warriors. Bluiett led a Park Tudor attack that set a 2A record with 56.4 percent shooting from the floor, including a record 14 3-pointers in 27 attempts. Park Tudor's 27-point margin of victory also set a 2A mark.

Bluiett averaged a state-leading 35.6 points for this season's Panthers, who topped the state with an 82.0 ppg mark. Bluiett's 38 points in the final represented a 2A record. He totaled 84 points -- an average of 28 per game -- in his state final appearances as a freshman, sophomore and senior.

The Panthers blew open a relatively close game when they went on a 17-5 run to start the third quarter. The Panthers held Westview to 31 percent shooting (9-of-29) in the second half and 35.1 percent (20-of-57) for the game.

Bryce Moore contributed 18 points for Park Tudor while Austin Shelton had 10. Coach Kyle Cox's Panthers, ranked first by the Associated Press, finished 24-4.

For Westview, making its first appearance in the state finals in 14 years, Chandler Aspy led the way with 19 points. Jordyn Bontrager totaled 10 points. Judah Zickafoose led the Warriors with nine rebounds.

Coach Rob Yoder's Westview team, which was unrated, finished 23-5.

Westview’s Jamar Weaver wins Trester Mental Attitude Award
Following the game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee named Jamar Weaver of Westview High School as the winner of the Arthur L. Trester Mental Attitude Award in Class 2A Boys Basketball.

The award is annually presented to a senior participant in the state finals who best demonstrates mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability and is named after the IHSAA’s first commissioner who served the Association from 1929 to 1944.

Weaver ranks 17th in his senior class, has been a member of the National Honor Society, the Spanish Club and is scheduled to be a part of a mission trip this summer with the New Life Fellowship. Besides basketball, he will play his fourth year of baseball this spring and played three years of tennis for the Warriors.

He is the son of Mervin and Wanita Weaver of Shipshewana and plans to study Business/Management while playing baseball at Huntington University next fall.

The Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever, the presenting sponsor of the IHSAA Boys Basketball State Tournament, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Westview High School in the name of Weaver. Since 1989, more than $800,000 in college scholarships have been presented to deserving high school athletes in Indiana.
