Charles F. Maas Mental Attitude Award

At the conclusion of the state finals, the IHSAA Executive Committee presents the Charles F. Maas Award for Mental Attitude to the outstanding senior participant in the boys cross country state meet. The award was named after Charles F. Maas by the IHSAA Executive Committee on February 3, 1985. Mr. Maas devoted a lifetime to the high school athletic programs as player, coach, athletic director and IHSAA Assistant Commissioner from 1973 until his passing in 1984. The recipient of this award, nominated by his principal and coach, must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability in cross country. Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, IHSAA corporate partner, presents a $1,000 scholarship to the school in the name of the recipient.
