Wes-Del Sweeps to Second Class A Volleyball Title
Top-ranked Wes-Del lived up to its billing and swept Christian Academy of Indiana 3-0 for the IHSAA Class Volleyball State Championship at Worthen Arena in Muncie.

The Warriors (35-3) of coach Biff Wilson carted off their second volleyball state championship in four years by rolling through the third-ranked Warriors of CAI, 25-22, 25-22, 25-13. It was the third straight top six team Wes-Del had defeated.

Wes-Del’s Mariah Berry and Alysa Sutton led all with 10 kills each with Megan Clark chipping in nine. Kennedy Petro tallied 34 assists and Sutton four service aces. Krista Boesing and Sierra Rayzor led Christian Academy with seven kills each.

Christian Academy (33-5), making the school’s first appearance in any state championship event, was coached by Walter Pauly. The Warriors won their first regional crown a year ago and their first semi-state last Saturday.

Kristen Lansing named Mental Attitude Award Winner
At the conclusion of the state finals, the IHSAA Executive Committee named Kristen Lansing of Wes-Del High School as the winner of the Class A Mental Attitude Award.

Kristen is a team captain for the Warriors and was named to the Class A All-State 1st team this year.

A National Honors Society member, Kristen is ranked 10th in her class and is part of the Greater Muncie Area Council on Youth Leadership. Lansing has also lettered in varsity track and is a manager for the boys’ basketball team at Wes-Del High School.
