Tell City's Kara Kessana Captures Title

Kara Kessans, a senior at Tell City High School, won the fourth annual IHSAA-Farm Bureau Insurance 3-Point Shootout title March 14,1998 at Market Square Arena when she hit 16 of a possible 25 shots in the final round. Kessans is a 5-9 guard who has signed a basketball letter of intent with the University of Louisville. She averaged 24.4 points this season, ranking 10th in the state. 

Kourtney Mennen, a junior from Clinton Prairie and a member of the school's 1997 IHSAA Class A Volleyball state championship team, finished as the runner-up with 13 treys. 

Lindsay Nelson of Western was third with 12, followed by junior Kristy Thomann of North Vermillion with 10. 

Competition began at the sectional level, and every sectional in the state was represented at the state finals. At each level of competition, shooters had the opportunity to shoot five balls at each of five different locations around the three-point arc within a 60-second period.
