Tournament Pairings

Pairings for the 24th Annual IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament Series will be drawn at noon on Monday, February 8, 1999. They will be available on the IHSAA website at approximately 2 p.m., EST.

 

Sectionals

Dates

February 16, 17, 18, 20, 1999

 

Format

4-Team Fields: Will play two semifinals games on Thursday at 6 p.m., championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

5-Team Fields: Will play one first-round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m., two semifinals games on Thursday at 6 p.m., and the championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The team drawing the first-round bye will play the Tuesday night winner in the second semifinal game on Thursday.

6-Team Fields: Will play two first-round games on Tuesday at 6 p.m., two semifinals on Thursday at 6 p.m., and the championship on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The two teams drawing a first-round bye will play in the second semifinal game on Thursday.

7-Team Fields: Will play one first-round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m., two first-round games on Wednesday at 6 p.m., two semifinal games on Thursday at 6 p.m., and the championship game on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The team drawing the first-round bye will play in the first game Thursday against the winner of Tuesday's first game.

First game begins at 2 p.m. with the second game to begin 30 minutes after presentation of awards.

 

Format

Each site will play host to two regional championship games. Games will be played in the order listed. The winner of each game advances to semi-state competition. Pairings are pre-determined: i.e. Sectional 1 winner plays Sectional 2 winner; Sectional 3 winner plays Sectional 4 winner, etc.

State Finals

Saturday, March 13, 1999 at Market Square Arena, Indianapolis

Session I (Class A followed by 2A) – 11 a.m.

Session II (Class 3A followed by 4A) – 6:30 p.m.

 

Format

Two teams in each class will advance from semi-state competition to play in the state finals. The state finals will consist of two sessions: Session I features the Class A championship game followed by the Class 2A championship. Session II will have the Class 3A title game followed by the Class 4A game.

Reserved tickets can be purchased by contacting the IHSAA at 317-846-6601 Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. EST. Orders must be received before February 13, 1999. Tickets will go on sale at each participating school the week of the state finals. Contact participating schools for ticket distribution hours. Tickets also will be on sale on game day at Market Square Arena.

Season ticket (four games): $15.00

 

Tournament of Champions

Date & Times

Friday, March 19-Saturday, March 20, 1999 at Hinkle Fieldhouse, Butler University, Indianapolis.

Friday: 7:05 p.m.

Saturday: 4:05 p.m.

 

Format

Pairings will be announced on February 8. Two semifinal games will be played March 19. The winners of those games will meet March 20 for the Tournament of Champions title.
