LAUREN WEST
OF CHESTERTON WINS MENTAL ATTITUDE AWARD
Lauren West of
Chesterton captured the 2003 Mildred M. Ball Mental Attitude Award in
Gymnastics. At the conclusion of the
state finals, the IHSAA Executive Committee presents the award to the
outstanding senior participant in the Gymnastics State Finals. The recipient of the award, who was nominated
by her principal and coach, must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership
and athletic ability in gymnastics.
During her career, Lauren has captured four individual state championships and two team state titles. This year, she led her team to a second place finish in the state competition by finishing third in Vaulting, a tie for fifth on the Uneven Bars, seventeenth on the Balance Beam, second in the Floor Exercise and third in the All-Around.
