FINALS NEXT IN IHSAA BOYS STATE GOLF TOURNEY

The 67th Annual Boys golf Tournament Series moves to the state finals on Wednesday and Thursday, June 18-19, at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin.

Last year’s team champion, Zionsville, qualified in the Center Grove regional, finishing second behind the host Trojans, 287-296.  Junior James Sacheck of the Eagles, who finished eighth overall individually in last years IHSAA state championship (70-74—144), was medalist with 66, low score at any of the seven regional sites this year.  Sacheck will tee off at 9:30 a.m. on the 10th tee of the Road 9 on Friday.

Last year’s medalist in the state finals, Cole Isban (68-73—141), was this year’s medalist at LaPorte, firing a 67, leading Mishawaka Marian back to the 2003 finals, where his team finished seventh one season ago.  Isban is scheduled for a 10:23 tee time Friday morning, off the 10th tee of the Road 9.

Wawasee, the state’s top team in the final IHSGCA poll, qualified with the fifth lowest total among the 21 teams advancing to the state finals, with 297.

Media Note:  The IHSAA will not provide golf carts for the media, but they may be rented from the pro shop for personal use.  Spectators also will not be permitted the use of golf carts.  A shuttle service will be provided to move them about the course.  Scores will be updated on the IHSAA web site as the rounds are completed

Pairings and tee-times are available on the IHSAA website at 2003 Boys Golf State Finals Pairings.

Previous state champions, runners-up and medalists may be found at IHSAA Boys Golf State Champions.

Travel Advisory:  Due to extensive construction, fans and media arriving from the north are advised to use I-465 around the city to avoid road closings and detours through the main part of Indianapolis.  You may join up again with I-65 south of the city and continue on to Franklin.
