SOCCER & FOOTBALL STATS TO BE COMPILED

As in the past, the IHSAA will be compiling statewide football statistics in a number of categories and posting them on the website (ihsaa.org) under football.  For a copy of the information and forms that been forwarded to the schools, you may contact our media relations department at jbaker@ihsaa.org and we’ll e-mail you an attachment which will allow you to report any news in your area which we can share with the media statewide.

We will begin posting the state leaders following the third game of the season.

This year, for the first time, we are also going to attempt to compile a limited number of soccer statistics.  Again, any assistance you may be able to provide in our attempt to put together a statewide review of soccer, both boys and girls, would be appreciated.  Simply contact us for a copy of the forms we are using.

SEVERAL CHANGES AMONG VOLLEYBALL LEADERS

Muncie Central moved into the number-one spot in this week’s Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches’ Association 4A poll as the Bearcats edged out last week’s leader, Indianapolis Cathedral, shoving the Irish into the number-two position.  Columbus East, Castle and Terre Haute South jumped into the weekly top-ten, with Mishawaka, Center Grove, LaPorte and Michigan City falling off the list.

In 3A, Delta clings to the top spot again this week.  Jasper and Jay County join the top-ten, with Mishawaka Marian and Alexandria being pushed aside.

2A competition is still being led by Muncie Burris.  Evansville Mater Dei loses a spot among the state leaders and is replaced by Knightstown.

In Class A,  Michigan City Marquette is the leader of the pack.  Though there was some shuffling for position, the remaining teams in the top-ten remain the same, with the exception of the dropping of Southwood, which was tied for the tenth slot last week.

You can check out the leaders in more detail at 2002 Girls Volleyball Poll.
