REGIONALS SLATED FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY
The 30th Annual IHSAA Football
State Tournament kicks moves into the regional round this Friday and Saturday. The complete tourney schedule and scores are
available on the IHSAA web at 2002 Football Pairings. The
regional lineup by itself is on the web at 2002 Football
Tourney Regional Pairings.
The state finals will be played at the RCA
Dome in
Defending champions still in contention
include Ben Davis in 5A. The Giants
travel to undefeated and second-ranked Warren Central. 4A defending state titlist Jasper hosts
Zionsville. In 3A, last year’s winner, Indianapolis

BASKETBALL UNDERWAY
The 2002-03 IHSAA girls basketball season
officially began yesterday, November 11, though much of the action will not
begin until tonight or later.
Last year’s 4A champion, Terre Haute South,
will begin play on November 14th and 15th in the six-team
Terre Haute North Tournament. The 3A
defending titleholder, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, starts play on the 12th

WRESTLING
TOURNAMENT ALIGNMENT AND FORMAT UNVEILED
The 2003 Wrestling tournament alignment and
format was formally approved at the IHSAA Executive Committee meeting on
As previously announced, this years’
individual tourney will consist of thirty-two (32) sectional sites, feeding
into sixteen regionals and then on to the four semi-states, with sixteen
individuals in each weight class advancing to the state finals at Conseco
Fieldhouse on February22, 2003.

2002-03
ENROLLMENT NUMBERS RELEASED
CLASSIFICATION
FIGURES FOR 2003-04 THRU 2006-07
The enrollment figures for the 2002-03
school year have been finalized and approved by the IHSAA, setting up the sports
classification status for each of the state’s schools beginning in the 2003-04
season and running through 2006-07.

Four teams representing
In 4A, Muncie Central grabbed its fourth
state win, defeating Pen 21-17, 21-10, 21-12.
The 3A crown went to Delta, as the Eagles garnered their second straight
title, 21-13, 21-13, 21-19 over Fort Wayne Luers. In 2A, Muncie Burris continued it domination,
capturing its fourteenth first-place trophy, knocking off Brownstown Central
21-14, 21-19, 21-15. And in Class A, it
was all Wapahani, as the Raiders swept Michigan City Marquette 21-18, 21-12,
21-14 for the first-ever state championship in any sport for the school.

VARIOUS
ALL-STATE TEAMS ANNOUNCED
The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association
has announced it selection of all-star teams in volleyball (2002
Volleyball All-StateTeams);
soccer (2002 Soccer All-State
Teams); and
cross-country (2002
Cross Country All-State Teams).
Franklin Central volleyball
coach Lisa Miniear has announced her
retirement. In 20 seasons with the
Flashes, she produced a 236-152 record.
Frank Amato
is leaving his position as head football coach at Northridge after six
seasons. No replacement has been named.
