GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING CHAMPIONSHIPS BEGIN THURSDAY

The 30th Annual Girls Swimming & Diving Tournament Series will take to the pools at 20 Sectional Sites across the state this Thursday, February 5, 2004, with the preliminaries getting underway at 5:30 p.m.

 

Action continues on Saturday, February 7, at 9:00 a.m. with the diving preliminaries and semifinals, followed by the consolation and finals in all events at 2:00 p.m.

 

Single-session tickets are priced at $4.00.  A season ticket is $6.00.

 

Columbus North is the all-time leader in IHSAA Total Sectional Titles with 24, followed by Anderson, Carmel and Elkhart Central, each with 20.  You may check out last year’s sectional winners at  2003 Sectional Champions or a year-by-year listing at IHSAA Girls Swimming Sectional Champions By School.

GIRLS DIVING REGIONALS SET FOR FEBRUARY 10

The IHSAA Girls Diving Regionals are scheduled for next Tuesday, February 10, at four sites across the state, with the first through fourth place sectional winners qualifying for the regional competition.

 

The first through eighth place regional winners will then qualify for the girls state finals on February 14 at the Indiana University Natatorium at IUPUI, 901 West New York Street in Indianapolis

GIRLS BASKETBALL TITLE CHASE STARTS FEBRUARY 10

The 29th Annual Girls Basketball Tournament will tip-off next Tuesday, February 10, with play at 64 sectional sites throughout the week, culminating in state finals action at Conseco Fieldhouse on Saturday, March 6.

IHSAA GIRLS BASKETBALL STATE FINALS

MEDIA CREDENTIAL INFORMATION

A reminder that the 2003-04 IHSAA State Finals Media Credential will not provide entry into the 2004 IHSAA Girls Basketball State Finals at Conseco Fieldhouse on March 6, 2004.

 

Applications for credentials to this event must be mailed or faxed to our offices on company letterhead.  E-mail requests will not be honored.  Please provide the name of each person for whom you are requesting a credential, as each credential will be assigned only to that individual and he or she should be prepared to show identification from your organization if it is requested.

 

In order to maintain a professional atmosphere in the media area, we request you please list only the working members of your organization who will need entry to the aforementioned championship contest.

Approved requests received by February 25 will be mailed.  Requests received following that date may be picked up at the media gate the day of the event.  If you plan to attend the media conference on Monday, March 1 at 10:00 a.m. at Conseco Fieldhouse and wish to pick up your credentials at that time, please make that notation on your request letter.

 

At the sectional, regional and semi-state levels, all credential requests must be made through the athletic director at the host site.

NO CHANGES UP FRONT IN A.P. & IBCA POLLS

Those teams who were up front last week remained the same in all four classes of the weekly A.P. polls, with Lawrence North still atop the single-class IBCA Poll.

 

The new arrival in the IBCA poll was Waldron, the only undefeated boys team in the state, at #20-t. New to the A.P. polls were Penn (4A), Anderson (4A), Cass (2A) and Henryville (A) with Indianapolis Cathedral, Terre Haute North, Monrovia and Lafayette Central Catholic dropping out of the top-10.
