NFHS LISTS 2004 SOCCER RULES CHANGES

A focus on risk minimization and substitutions highlighted the January 25-26 meeting of the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Soccer Rules Committee.

The most important change made was a clarification from the 2003 rules meeting regarding goal post padding. "Last year, we permitted goal post padding for the first time," said Tim Flannery, NFHS assistant director and liaison to the NFHS Soccer Rules Committee. "This year, we clarified that rule by adding the specifications for the padding."

There were any number of other changes and you can check them all at 2004 NFHS Soccer Rules Changes.

HOBART TAKES SOLE POSSESSION OF TOP SPOT IN GYMNASTICS

Following a tie for No. 1 between Hobart and Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger in last week’s Indiana High School Gymnastics Coaches poll, the Brickies took over sole possession of the top spot in this week’s lineup.   The remainder of the top-nine remained the same, with Crown Point crowding its way into the top-ten, replacing Columbus North in the tenth position.

Columbus East, Bloomington South and Perry Meridian all dropped out of the rankings this week.
