DAVID MUSSELMAN OF WROI RADIO, ROCHESTER,

SELECTED AS DISTRICT I MEDIA SERVICE AWARD WINNER

David Musselman of WROI Radio in Rochester, Indiana has been selected as the 2003-2004 recipient of the District I IHSAA Distinguished Media Service Award.

A graduate of North Miami High School and Vincennes University, David began his career at WROI Radio in the fall of 1996. He has been serving double-duty with the organization, acting as Sports Director and Assistant Station Manager.

Prior to his arrival at WROI, David worked two years at WARU Radio in Peru, Indiana, where he was part of the broadcast team that covered North Miami’s run to the RCA Dome in 1993, which resulted in a Class A IHSAA state football championship.

David keeps busy for his radio station, covering not only Rochester High, but also Winamac, Tippecanoe Valley, Caston and Culver Community sporting events. He is heavily involved in both boys and girls sporting events. Along the way, he has found time to broadcast sports action involving University of Notre Dame and Hanover College teams.

If broadcasting didn’t fill his time, David found a unique opportunity to also be on the sideline and become heavily involved with the events unfolding on the field as a leader. He was the head softball coach at Rochester High School until this past spring. His teams’ captured four consecutive Three Rivers Conference championships.

David and his wife, Carlene, reside in Rochester with their two daughters, Kennedy, 3, and Mya, 7 months.

David will be honored on Friday, October 17, 2003 in a special ceremony at half-time of the Rochester-North Miami football game

On behalf of its 396 member schools, the Indiana High School Athletic Association salutes David Musselman and recognizes his dedicated service to high school athletics in the state of Indiana by presenting him with the District 1 2003-2004 Distinguished Media Service Award.
