GIRLS & BOYS TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS THIS WEEKEND

The 31st Annual Girls Track and Field Tournament Series championship is scheduled for this Friday, with the 101st edition of the boys competition on Saturday at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on the Indiana University campus in Bloomington.

 

Times for girls’ competition are on the web at 2004 Girls Track State Finals.  The boys’ schedule is also on the web at 2004 Boys Track State Finals.  Admission is $7.00 daily.

BOYS TEE IT UP IN GOLF SECTIONALS

The 68th Annual IHSAA Boys Golf Tournament tees off this Friday, June 4, at 28 sectional locations.  Regional competition is slated for June 12, with the state finals on June 15-16 at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin.

 

The defending state champion, and No. 1 ranked, Richmond, will host its own sectional at the Richmond Elks Country Club.  The 2003 runner-up, Center Grove, will compete in the Greenfield-Central Sectional at the Greenfield Country Club.

IHSAA OVERTIME

Joe Granecki leaves the Jennings County girls basketball coaching position.

 

Greg Parsley has resigned his position as athletic director at Rensselaer Central to assume the duties as Principal at BloomfieldMike Ashburn, Assistant athletic director at Indianapolis George Washington, will take over as AD at Rensselaer Central.

 

After 19 seasons at the school, Steve Binkley has retired as boys basketball coach at Avon.

 

Ron Hawn has been named boys' basketball coach at Austin.  He replaces Scott Matthews.  Mandy DeSpain has been hired to head the girls' program, replacing Dan Deaton.

 

Wawasee has announced the selection of Darrell Carr, Jr. as wrestling coach.

 

Roger Gurth returns to South Spencer as boys basketball coach.

 

Reid Amones has resigned his position as baseball coach at Portage and been named the assistant principal at Willowcreek Middle School.

 

Gary Roosevelt has announced that Larry McKissack will replace Ron Broome as it boys basketball coach.

 

Phil Spoljaric will be the new boys basketball coach at Anderson Highland, succeeding Pat Skaggs.

 

DeKalb has hired Tom Etnage as its girls soccer coach.  Doug Curtis will also join the Barons as girls basketball coach and Jim Hummer signs on as football coach.

 

Matt Furthmiller is the new football coach at Columbia City.

 

Mike McDivitt has resigned as girls basketball coach at Oak Hill, but will retain his positing as boys and girls cross country coaches.
