TEAM WRESTLING DRAW JANUARY 20     

Pairings for the state finals round of the 2005 IHSAA Team Wrestling Tournament will be made in a blind draw Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 8:00 a.m. at the IHSAA offices in Indianapolis.  When completed, the draw will be placed on the IHSAA website under Boys Wrestling.

 

The finals are scheduled for Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Center Grove High School, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  The state tournament begins with individual sectionals competition on Saturday, January 29, 2005.  The championship team and runner up team in the individual sectional tournament will be the schools that advance in the team tournament.

Samantha Troutman from South Central (Elizabeth) has reached the 1,000-point club in girls basketball.

 

Jade Januseski passed the 1,000-point girls basketball career mark for Garrett.

 

Central Noble junior Carey Magnuson broke the school single-game scoring record January 11 against Prairie Heights in the first round of the NECC tourney, scoring 36 points.

 

Senior Jesica Hildebrand set the girls basketball career scoring record (1,207 points) at Cambridge City Lincoln in a game on January 13th at Hagerstown.

 

Megan King, a sophomore at Fort Wayne Canterbury, reached the 1,000-point career mark on January 13 against Harding in only her 37th career game.

 

In a January 13 girls basketball contest at Rushville, Shenandoah senior Kara Keesling became the sixth player in school history to score her 1000th point. Kara has already established records for assists in a season, assists in a career, steals in a season and steals for her career.

 

Brett Sanders of Frankton surpassed the 1,000-point mark on January 14.

 

Taylor Morrow became North Posey’s career assist leader on January 15.

 

IHSAA OVERTIME

Mark Newlin has resigned as head football coach at Fort Wayne Wayne.

 

LaPorte will celebrate 100 years of boys basketball on Saturday, February 5, 2005, when the Slicers play host to South Central (Union Mills).  Former varsity letter winners are asked to contact the school.

 

Todd Sconce has been hired as head football coach at Monrovia.  A graduate of Monrovia, he replaces Brian Tomson who resigned after 3 seasons.

 

South Bend Washington has announced the selection of Jennifer Joyce as volleyball coach for next season.  She replaces Jody Koselak, who resigned.

 

Rich Bailey takes over as softball coach at Lawrence North, replacing Tom Corbett who moved on to Lawrence Central.

 

Angela Hamblin is the new girls basketball coach at Gary Wallace.  She steps in for Melvin Walls, who had been coaching the team on an interim basis, replacing Johnna Smith.

 

Four new members (Jody Patterson, Gunner Wyman, Bryan Taylor and Art Wagner) will be inducted into the Tell City High School Hall of Fame at halftime of the Tell City-Hancock County (KY) basketball game on Friday, January 21.

 

Anderson senior Angela Willis scored her 1,000th career point on January 11.  She becomes the fourth Red Devil to attain that mark.

 

Monica Macellari of South Bend Clay reached the 1,000-point level on January 11 and is second on the school’s all-time girls scoring list behind Connie Murdock (1,076).
