GIRLS GOLF TOURNAMENT ADVANCES TO REGIONALS

The 32nd Annual IHSAA Girls Golf Tournament Series will advance to the regional round this Saturday, September 25, with competition at seven sites.  The state finals are slated for October 1-2 at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course in Franklin.

Hamilton Southeastern, the 2003 state champion, failed to get out of the Brebeuf Jesuit sectional, firing a 342 and missing the third advancement position by 15 strokes.  Last year’s runner-up, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, qualified with a team total of 320 in the East Noble sectional.

Sixth-ranked Martinsville turned in the lowest team score, coming away with a 308 total in the Bloomington North sectional, defeating runner-up Bloomington North by 25 strokes.  The nine-time state champs move on to host regional play this Saturday.

Full sectional results are on the web at 2004 IHSAA Girls Golf Sectionals.  The regional lineups are also on the web at 2004 IHSAA Girls Golf Regionals.

Martinsville is the all-time leader in regionals won, with 13, the last coming in 2001.  For a complete listing of former regional champs by school, log on to History: Girls Golf Regional Champions.
