2004 VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT HEADS TO STATE FINALS

The 33rd Annual IHSAA Volleyball Tournament Series advances to the state finals round this Saturday morning at four semi-final sites, with the championships in four classes to be decided Saturday afternoon at Hinkle Fieldhouse on the Butler University campus.  Morning action will begin at 9:00.  The championship contests will start at 2:30 p.m.  Admission is $8.00 per session, or $12.00 for a season ticket. 

 

Three of last year’s state champions are still in the field:

 

The 2003 class 4A champ, Indianapolis Cathedral, a four-time state champion, will meet New Albany at North Central (Indpls.); Muncie Burris, the all-time leader in volleyball state titles with 15, continues defense of its 2003 crown in 2A action at Ben Davis against Brownstown Central; Morristown, which picked up its first volleyball trophy in 2003, also continues play in defense of its class A win facing Tecumseh at Hinkle Fieldhouse.

Media:  Your 2004-04 State Finals Media Credential is good for admission to the volleyball semi-finals and state finals.  Media are asked to enter through Gate #1 on the southwest corner of Hinkle Fieldhouse.

 

2004 IHSAA FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT MOVES TO SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The IHSAA Football Tournament Series heads to the championship round of sectional play this Friday evening. 

 

The defending 5A state champion, Warren Central, travels to Lawrence Central.

The 2003 4A winner, Roncalli, heads for Indianapolis Cathedral

Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, defending 3A titlist, plays at Danville.

In class 2A, Tri-West Hendricks, last year’s state champ, goes to South Vermillion.

Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter continues defense of its class A crown, hosting Park Tudor.

BOYS TENNIS ALL-STATE TEAMS ANNOUNCED

The Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association has released its selections for 2004 All-State and Academic All-State singles and doubles teams.  Those selections are available on the IHSTeCA web site at 2004 IHSTeCA All-State Team and 2004 IHSTeCA Academic All-State Team.

 

CROSS COUNTRY ACADEMIC ALL-STATE TEAMS UNVEILED

The Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches has announced its choices for the 2004 Academic All-State Teams in both girls and boys country.

IHSAA OVERTIME

Ken Sears has resigned as football coach at Whiteland.  He will remain as baseball coach.

 

Kevin Wenzel is the new girls basketball coach at North White.

 

Todd Smith, member of the 1980 IHSAA state champion boys golf team from Rochester and medalist in the state tournament, has been inducted into the Indiana Golf Hall of Fame.
