IHSAA GYMNASTICS SEASON UNDERWAY

The 2004-05 IHSAA Girls Gymnastics season is officially underway, with regular season competition starting on December 6.  The state tournament begins with sectional competition on March 5, 2005, and concludes with the state finals at Perry Meridian High School on March 19.

Hobart claimed the 2004 state championship, outscoring runner-up Valparaiso, 11.775 – 109.275.  Senior Rebekah Porter of Valparaiso captured her second consecutive All-Around title.

TWO CHANGES AT TOP IN LATEST ICGSA GIRLS BASKETBALL POLLS

While the rankings remained status quo in class 4A and 3A, there was some shuffling at the top of the 2A and A ICGSA Girls Basketball Polls this week.

In class 2A, Winamac jumped to the top of the heap, shoving last week’s leader, Taylor, down to the No. 5 position.  IN class A, Fort Wayne Canterbury took over the leadership role, with last week’s top squad, Indianapolis Lutheran, falling to 6th.  Castle and Evansville Memorial maintained their lofty perches in class 4A and 3A, respectively.

Newcomers to the top-10 included New Albany in class 4A, Mitchell in 2A and Springs Valley and Covenant Christian in class A.
