FIRST COMPILATION OF BASEBALL, SOFTBALL STATE STATISTICAL LEADERS

Through its exclusive athletic statistics reporting and publishing service, Stats & Go, the IHSAA is releasing its first compilation of state statistical leaders in baseball and softball.

Eight categories will be updated on a weekly basis throughout the season on each sport’s respective page on the IHSAA website at www.ihsaa.org and also included in periodic news releases during the spring. The listing of state leaders is included below.

Each school is responsible for reporting its statistics to the on-line service by 4 p.m. EDT each Monday of the season to be included in the weekly update. Previously this school year, football, volleyball, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys basketball and girls basketball stats have all be compiled and published using this service.

“Stats & Go” is a powerful online service that greatly simplifies the process of recording, tabulating, publishing, and accessing comprehensive sports statistics for everyone involved in amateur athletic leagues.  It allows coaches and their statisticians to record and publish statistics completely online; reducing the time the process takes from hours to minutes. “Stats & Go” also automatically compiles and publishes these stats to media outlets, meaning student athletes from all high schools in the association will get the publicity and recognition they deserve.  Moreover, students, parents, and fans can track their favorite student-athletes and teams from anywhere simply by accessing “Stats & Go” through the IHSAA website at www.ihsaa.org or at www.statsandgo.com.

IHSAA STUDENT LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE SET FOR JUNE 20

With the goal of fostering positive traditions through citizenship and sportsmanship, the Indiana High School Athletic Association is sponsoring the Third Annual Student Leadership Conference on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 at Carmel High School.

Each of the IHSAA’s 400 member schools have been invited to send a team of four to eight student-athletes and an adult facilitator to the day-long conference which will include several speakers as well as over 20 different discussion topics.

Hundreds of students-athletes from around the state will have the opportunity to meet and interact with each other while hearing from Harvey Alston, a nationally-recognized speaker and author, and Stephen Bargatze, an internationally-acclaimed comedian and motivational speaker.

Among the many topics included in break-out sessions are: Leadership, Sportsmanship, College Preparation, NCAA Clearinghouse, Building Team Morale, Athletic Related Careers, Building Winning Traditions, Mental Preparation, Balancing Athletics and Academics and IHSAA Issues and Answers.

Registration is $50 per person and due by May 20, 2006. For more information, contact Assistant Commissioner Sandy Searcy at ssearcy@ihsaa.org or 317-846-6601.
