GIRLS GOLF MOVES TO REGIONAL ROUND SATURDAY
The regional round of the 33rd
Annual Girls Golf State Tournament Series takes place Saturday, Sept. 24 at
seven courses around the state. The top three teams at each site, along with
the top three individuals, including ties, not with an advancing team will earn
a spot in the state finals next week.
Top-ranked and defending
state champion Penn had an impressive showing in the sectional played at Juday Creek in Granger last Saturday and will meet up with
other regional qualifiers at Beechwood Golf Course in
LaPorte. The Kingsmen put
up a 293 to top all teams state-wide as all four scoring players carded sub-80
rounds. Senior Julia Potters 69 earned medallist honors and also the states
low mark as well. Teammates Laura and Anne Ormson
added a 72 and 73, respectively, and Erin Buttrey
turned in a 79.
No. 2 Noblesvilles 303 at
Bent Tree in
After Potter, five other
individuals recorded sub-72 scores: Abby Cotter of Noblesville (70) at Bent
Tree; defending state champion Angela Gauck of North
Decatur (70) at Greensburg Country Club; Lina Pasquali of East Noble (70) who defeated Raquel Hopton of Fort Wayne Snider (70) in a playoff at
Cobblestone in Kendallville and; Brebeuf Jesuits
Aimee Neff (71) at Bent Tree.
Western, which placed third

Barring
any weather delays, results from each site will be posted to the IHSAA website
as they become available from the hosts. Also, pairings and tee-times for the
state finals are scheduled to be available Monday morning as long as play is
completed at all seven venues.
Looking
ahead to next week, media members who will be covering individuals or teams at
the state finals should apply for credentials as soon as possible. Please fax

FOOTBALL
Pairings for the 33rd
Annual State Football Tournament Series will be drawn on Sunday, Oct. 2 at the
IHSAA Office in
Upon conclusion of the 90-minute
broadcast, the complete pairings will be placed on the IHSAA website at www.ihsaa.org.
One slight change to this
years draw is that, unlike in previous years, the second team drawn in
each first-round game will serve as the host. Teams drawing a bye into the
second round will continue to be the road team, however.
Members of the media and the
general public are welcome to attend the pairings show,
however there is limited space available in the building.
A list of radio affiliates
scheduled to carry the broadcast will be included in next weeks release. Any
interested radio station wishing to carry the show should contact
