IHSAA Commissioner Blake Ress will be on hand along with Paul Neidig, athletic director of the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation, and Mike Whitten, principal at Boonville, both members of the IHSAA Board of Directors, to make the presentation.

Collins joined the Courier & Press sports department in 1968 and has covered the high school sports scene in southwestern Indiana since 1989. Prior to that he spent 21 consecutive years as the beat writer for the University of Evansville.

He and his wife, Diana, have resided in Fort Branch for 32 years. They have two adult children, Angela Speedy and Christopher Collins and one granddaughter, Jordan. In his spare time, Collins enjoys reading books on WWII history and spending time with his granddaughter.

This is the 23rd year the IHSAA has recognized an outstanding member of the Indiana news media from each of the three IHSAA legislative districts for excellence in the coverage of high school sports. District III covers 42 counties across southern Indiana. Collins is the first honoree of the 2006-07 school year.
