35TH ANNUAL STATE VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS ANNOUNCED

The pairings for the 35th Annual IHSAA Volleyball State Tournament Series were drawn this morning by Commissioner Blake Ress at the IHSAA Office in Indianapolis.

 

Three hundred ninety-four schools have entered this year’s tournament with sectional play beginning on Thursday, October 19 and finishing on Saturday, October 21 at 64 sites across four classifications.

 

Regional matches will be played Saturday, October 28 at 16 sites with the winners advancing to the state finals in and around Indianapolis on Saturday, November 4.

 

Class 2A top-ranked Muncie Burris begins its quest for its 10th straight state championship in Sectional 41 at Wapahani against Alexandria. Among other current No. 1 teams, 4A Indianapolis Cathedral opens against Lawrence Central in Sectional 10 at Lawrence North. In 3A, Yorktown opens up at home in Sectional 27 against New Palestine. And in Class A, Cowan will play on its home floor in Sectional 55 against Union City.

 

This is the final year of a four-year cycle that divides the sport into four classes based on school enrollment.
