STATE SOCCER TOURNAMENT PAIRINGS DRAWN THIS MORNING

A field of 282 boys teams and 244 girls teams are entered as pairings for the 15th annual IHSAA soccer state tournaments were drawn this morning in Indianapolis.

 

Boys sectional action at 64 sites will be played Thursday, Oct. 9, and Saturday, Oct. 11. The 16 regionals will host four teams each with semifinal matches Wednesday, Oct. 15, and championship matches on Saturday, Oct. 18. The semi-states will be played Saturday, Oct. 25, and the state finals Saturday, Nov. 1, both using four-team formats.

 

Defending state champion and top-ranked Evansville Memorial drew the bye in the five team sectional at Evansville Harrison and will face the Evansville Bosse-Evansville Harrison winner.

 

The girls sectionals will begin the week after the boys on Monday, Oct. 13, at 32 sites and run through Saturday, Oct. 18. One-match regionals are scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 16 sites with the four semi-states on Saturday, Oct. 25. The state finals will be Saturday, Nov. 1.

 

Carmel’s girls team, ranked first in this week’s state coaches poll, drew Lebanon in the seven-team sectional at Hamilton Southeastern.

 

Defending state champion Indianapolis Cathedral will take on Lawrence North in the eight-team sectional at Warren Central.
