Noblesville Girls State Champions Once Again

Noblesville returned to the top of the Class 3A Girls Soccer heap with a 1-0 victory over perennial-power Carmel.

Ava Bramblett, an Ohio State recruit, scored the game’s only goal with just over three minutes left in the first half and the Millers’ defense and goalkeeper Bella Wyatt made it stand up. The victory gives Noblesville (20-1) its third state title in four years after coach Mike Brady guided the Millers to titles in 2019 and 2020.

The win also came just a couple hours after the Noblesville Boys captured the 3A title making Noblesville only the second school ever to win both the boys soccer and girls soccer state titles in the same season. Evansville Memorial accomplished the feat in 2008 and 2017.

Bramblett’s goal was unassisted. The Millers had plenty of other chances as they outshot Carmel, 25-6 and had an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. Wyatt made three saves, including a key stop on a Carmel breakaway in the 51st minute.

The loss denied Carmel (18-3-2) and long-time coach Frank Dixon an 11th state title. The Greyhounds lost in last year’s state title match, as well as 2019, and haven’t claimed the trophy since 2018.
