The Spectator – Fall 2025

A Letter from the Commissioner

I want to take a moment and slow down.

This fall season passed us by in a blur. It always does.

Medals have been awarded. Trophies have been hoisted. Champions have been crowned.

But before we hurtle into the next round of playoffs, the next sport, the next season, I want to take a moment and slow down.

I want to slow down and celebrate our mission, and in particular the people who carry it out day after day.

We have over 1,000 athletic directors, principals, and school administrators—as well as 24 outstanding IHSAA employees—who believe in the power of high school sports. Who believe in the ability of education-based athletics to transform and impact Indiana communities.

We have over 6,000 game officials who ensure our student-athletes have the opportunity to participate in contests that foster learning, growth, and passion.

We have over 30,000 coaches who lead, mentor, and believe in our young Hoosier men and women.

I want to commend ALL of those individuals who dedicate themselves to 160,000 student-athletes and education-based athletics in Indiana.

Our mission is to keep education in front of athletics. It is to focus on student-athlete growth over wins and losses. It is to develop character and integrity above athletic ability. Those are the measuring sticks we use to gauge success. And by those measures, the individuals mentioned above are doing one hell of a job.

Those administrators, officials, coaches, student-athletes—as well as their collective families—they are all a part of who we are: the IHSAA.

That's worth celebrating.

Say Hello to Our New Sponsors

Not only is the IHSAA proud of our long-standing relationships with friends like the Colts, Pacers, and Fever, but the Association is pleased to announce some new faces to our important roster of corporate partners.

We want to extend a warm IHSAA welcome to Old National Bank and American Dairy Association Indiana!

Old National Bank has joined our team as the presenting partner of Unified® Flag Football and Unified® Track and Field. A longtime friend of the IHSAA and the IHSAA Foundation, we are pleased to officially welcome Old National Bank to our team, and appreciate their support of the growth of Unified® athletics.

American Dairy Association Indiana—which many know from their Winners Drink Milk campaign—has come on board as the Official Beverage of the IHSAA and Indiana student-athletes. In addition to advocating for the health benefits of milk for student-athletes, American Dairy also provides milk to each of our State Championship teams to complete a wholesome State Finals celebration.

A big welcome and THANK YOU to our two newest IHSAA corporate partners—Old National Bank and American Dairy Association Indiana!

Brandon Baxter: Boots on the Ground

There are few members of the IHSAA staff who are as involved in State Finals events as Brandon Baxter. Initially an intern in 2018, Brandon was hired full-time as the IHSAA’s Communications Assistant in January 2021. In addition to producing the State Finals program for every sport, Brandon also coordinates the gameday operations for State Finals events.

From working with staff at venues like Lucas Oil Stadium or Gainbridge Fieldhouse to making sure all of the IHSAA’s corporate partnerships are fulfilled, Brandon is essential in helping the Association put on first-class events for student-athletes. In recognition of his exceptional work, Brandon was promoted this past summer to Assistant Director of Communications and Sponsorships.

An Indianapolis native and Warren Central alum, Brandon enjoys attending sporting events and traveling with his fiancé, Kenzie. He is a fan of the Colts, Pacers, the University of Michigan, and Kid Cudi. Brandon, we’re proud to have you on our team!
