IHSAA Girls Swimming & Diving

1999 Sectional Results

Top-ranked Carmel swam its way to a 419-point victory at the Carmel Sectional as 20 sectional champions from around the state were crowned Feb. 6, 1999. It was the 15^th consecutive sectional championship for the defending state champion Greyhounds.

Second-ranked Center Grove was victorious in all events but one as the Trojans made it ten in a row by winning the Center Grove Sectional.

Indiana High School Swimming Coaches Association 35^th-ranked Columbus North won every event en route to a 452-point victory in the Columbus North Sectional. The Bull Dogs own the longest streak in the state with 16 straight. Other schools who extended their sectional championship streaks were:

Lake Central — 8
Mount Vernon — 7
Richmond — 6

Bloomington North won its first sectional crown since 1984 by capturing the Bloomington South Sectional. Plainfield also ended its drought of 15 years by winning the Southport Sectional.

Since girls swimming competition began in the 1974-75 season, three schools are tied for the most sectional team championships. Anderson, Columbus North and Elkhart Central have 20 sectional championships apiece. Lafayette Jefferson owns 19 crowns.
