IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (1/29/24)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

One of the first things I notice when I attend a high school sporting event is whether or not other students are in attendance supporting their classmates.  There is nothing like the school spirit and energy that comes from students and community supporting the athletic teams, theatre, music events or other student led events.

As a student-athlete, you should find a way to attend and support your school and classmates by being in attendance.  How can you expect others to attend your event if you don't attend other school programs as a spectator?  Whether it is a night you have off or during your off-season, you can plan and make a priority to be in attendance supporting your school.  Your leadership by attending will likely encourage others around you to do the same!

During your season, your practices and games comes first of course, but your high school memories will likely include more than just your sport season and accomplishments.  Make it a priority to experience being in the crowd, cheering for your friends and supporting your school!
