IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (2/16/26)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

Watching the Winter Olympics reminds me of why there is such a love and fascination for sports in the US and around the world.  Let's face it, these are the best athletes in the world competing for gold and glory, trying their best to win a medal, and stand on the podium for a thrill of their lifetime.

If you watch, it is incredible how close most of the events are.  The difference between winning and losing comes down to tenths of a second or points.  As the saying goes, it is "the agony of defeat or the thrill of victory" for these athletes.

As in all competition, the life lessons are demonstrated in these games.  I am always interested in how each athlete responds-both in defeat and in victory.  It is heartwarming to see those who have been defeated, congratulate the winners.  The athletes show their determination when they fall down, get back up, and finish their event.  No doubt each of these Olympians will use this experience to motivate themselves to achieve more in their next chapter.

It doesn't matter at what level of athletics you participate.  You are learning life lessons that will prepare you and benefit you in your future endeavors!
