IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (2/23/26)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

USA Men's Hockey won the gold Olympic medal defeating their arch rival Canada in a thrilling OT victory, winning for the first time since the 1980 Olympics (called the Miracle on Ice).  The matchup was highly anticipated because the USA lost to Canada in both 2002 and 2010, settling for silver.  The USA Women's team won gold as well, making it the first time the USA had the sweep.

Hockey is a fast-paced past, low scoring, physical and defensive game.  Penalties can be costly and put the team at a disadvantage, with a player sitting out for a period of time.  Players sub in and out of the game while the clock is running and play continues seamlessly.

What makes the Olympics so special is that for the two-week period, team rivals become united as one team, representing their country for the pride and honor of being part of it.

What makes your high school experience so special?  When you are representing your school, community or state, it is an honor to compete in front of those people that follow you and support you.  When you get the opportunity to play in a big game (like sectional week or any championship game), embrace the challenge and enjoy the moment, regardless of the outcome. Special games and moments will be something you will always remember!
