IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (2/3/25)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

Successful teams can be built in a variety of ways.  It may start with talent, but you need good coaching and players buying into the system or style of play.  In the end, there is no single ingredient more important than team chemistry.

In my opinion team chemistry exists when every player pulls in the same direction and supports each other.  Usually there will be a dynamic leader of the pack who is encouraging, involved and lifting the others up in practice and during a game.

Teammates do not have to be best friends off the court or field, but when together as a team, must work and act like a tight knit group.

This weekend you will have a chance to watch Super Bowl LIX.   Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is so instrumental to his team on the field and on the sidelines.  He is the obvious leader, but his teammates have bought into a shared vision and the team chemistry is a positive factor in their success this year and in year's past.

Good team chemistry is not a sure thing for success, but without good team chemistry your team will likely struggle when the big game is on the line!
