IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (3/27/23)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

Recently a University of Alabama football player was suspended by his coach for his behavior involving illegal drugs.  Nick Saban, head coach of Alabama, spoke at a press conference and said, "Everybody's got an opportunity to make choices and decisions; there's no such thing as being in the wrong place at the wrong time.  Gotta be responsible for who you're with, who you're around, what you do and who you associate with and the situations you put yourself in."

As a teenager and student-athlete you have increasing responsibility of your actions and the results of those actions. You know right from wrong and you are only fooling yourself if you are thinking otherwise.  You have probably heard your parents and coaches make a similar statement.  The reality is that your actions have consequences that will impact your future and your status on the team.

Make sure your priorities and decision making are set and that you take a minute to think before you find yourself in the wrong place!
