IHSAA Student-Athlete Tip of the Week (9/19/23)

"Promoting Education Based Athletics in Indiana"

NFL (and MVP) quarterback Aaron Rodgers was looking forward to a fresh start with his new team, the New York Jets last week. There was such a big build up to their season. Sadly, he went down with an achilles tear on the fourth play of the game. He had season ending surgery soon after.

Rodgers vows to come back next year and overcome this setback. He said he is going to work hard and prepare for the next season. No doubt he wants to come back stronger than ever.

While the media was focusing on Rodgers and his injury, Jets head coach Robert Saleh was focused on the season ahead without his star quarterback.  He said, "Aaron is an unbelievable piece to this whole thing and we love him, but I think there's 52 other guys in the locker room plus the 16 practice squad guys that believe we can do ...a lot of good things here."

Maybe you or one of your teammates has suffered a season ending injury or one that sends you to the sidelines for a while.  Overcoming injuries is part of the game.  It is how you react to the situation that makes all the difference. Good teammates and good coaching help teams work through the most difficult times!
