Trailing 4-3, the Bruins added two runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh for insurance to pick up the school's first softball state title under second-year coach Stacey Rogers. The victory capped a 14-game winning streak and a 25-4 campaign.

With two outs in the Tri-West sixth, senior Taylor Heath singled to centerfield to get things going. Sophomore Lizzie Meyer was tabbed to pinch run for Heath, and with a Sydney Schrack single up the middle, Meyer advanced to second.  Samme Miller then doubled to left field, scoring Meyer and Schrack to put Tri-West ahead 5-4.

Claire Johnson then blasted a two-run homer to centerfield in the seventh that again scored Meyer for the final margin.

Yorktown's Katy Johnson led off the first inning with a home run giving the Tigers an early 1-0 lead.  Johnson would finish with two runs, three hits and one RBI.

Tri-West answered in the third inning as Miller and Kristy Rawlings both scored in the top of the third inning to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead. Miller would finish with a run, two hits, and two RBI while Rawlings picked up one of each.

The Tigers would score single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings including Kendra Saunders' fifth inning leadoff homer. She would tie a state championship game record with four base hits.
