Sectional Host Site Selection
Sectional host sites are determined based on recommendations from school administrators within each sectional grouping.
Restrictions
Principals should inform all of the following tourney restrictions:
A. No publications, brochures, fliers, etc. of any kind, whether for sale or free-of-charge, are to be distributed at IHSAA tournament events without prior approval from the IHSAA.
B. Balloons, banners and/or posters, etc. are not permitted.
C. Cowbells and other such noise devices, banners, shakers on sticks, signs, posters, etc., are not permitted.
D. No live animal mascots are permitted.
E. Line-up lanes of fans shall not be permitted on the playing floor at any time.
F. Audio/video devices are not permitted on the playing floor.
G. The throwing of articles, including toilet tissue, is not allowed.
It shall be the responsibility of each high school principal to see that the above restrictions are enforced.

Fieldhouse Health & Safety Guidelines
Admission: $15 per person. All tickets are reserved seating for one session only (two games - morning session or evening session). All tickets are digital only through your mobile phone and may be purchased via Ticketmaster.com (service fees apply). Purchased tickets will be sent as mobile tickets to the purchaser’s smart phone and that verification should be shown at the admission gate. Participating schools will also have digital tickets to sell in their own sections during the week of the state finals.

Donohoo, Oxley lead Tecumseh to first state championship
Tecumseh junior Karsyn Flowers opened the fourth quarter with a 3-pointer to break a 41-41 tie and send the Braves on to a 60-53 win over Lafayette Central Catholic in the Class A state championship game.
The 3-pointer sparked an 11-0 run to open the quarter and coach Adam Luebbehusen’s squad held on for the title in its first-ever state finals appearance.
Tecumseh (21-8) completed a sweep of the top three teams in the final state poll by beating the No. 3 Knights. Previously, Tecumseh knocked out No. 1 Waldron in the semistate and No. 2 Lanesville in the regional championship.
After taking the 52-41 lead with 4:38 left, LCC closed within 56-53 with 1:20 left after the Braves went through a stretch where they missed seven of nine free throw attempts, but the Knights could get no closer.
Sophomore Jenna Donohoo led the winners with 29 points and 13 rebounds, while Kaybree Oxley added 19 points and 11 boards.
Carlee Barrett led Central Catholic (24-5) with 17 points and Kendal Rider and Caitlin Dineen each netted 14 points.
Central Catholic, of coach Craig DeVault, came in unbeaten in three previous state finals contests.

Tecumseh's Ashtyn Green named Mental Attitude Award winner
Following the game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee named Ashtyn Green of Tecumseh High School as the winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award in Class A Girls Basketball.
The award is presented annually to a senior participant in each classification who was nominated by her principal and coach and has demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.
Ashtyn is a three sport athlete participating in basketball, volleyball and softball and has helped her team reach the state finals for the first time. Academically, she has received recognition for scoring a 4.0 GPA and ranks among the best students in her senior class. She's a member of the National Honor Society and Art Club and serves as president of the Student Council and serves as secretary for the Class of 2022.
She is the daughter of Jared and Mindy Green of Lynnville, IN and plans to attend Wabash Valley Junior College to study Elementary and Art Education.
The Indiana Fever and Indiana Pacers, the presenting sponsor of the IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Tecumseh High School in the name of Ashtyn Green.
The award is named in honor of the late former IHSAA assistant commissioner Patricia L. Roy, who oversaw the girls basketball state tournament from its inception in 1976 until her retirement in 1999.

Forest Park finishes strong for first state championship
Forest Park, making its first appearance in the state finals since 2000, started fast and finished faster to claim a 52-44 win over Frankton in the Class 2A title game.
The Rangers, of coach Tony Hasenour, opened the game with a 7-0 spurt, then finished on a 12-3 run after falling behind, 41-40, with 3:40 left in the contest.
The title gives Forest Park (26-3) its first state title after it finished as runner-up in 2000. Frankton was making its second appearance in three years after falling in 2020’s title game.
After the Rangers took the early lead, they extended that to 38-29 with six minutes left in the contest. However, Frankton (23-6) didn’t fold and came back with a 12-2 run -- capped by a follow-up basket by Emma Sperry to give the Eagles the one-point lead. Forest Park responded next time down, reclaiming the lead on a lay-up by Carley Begle and the Rangers never trailed again.
Amber Tretter led Forest Park with 22 points and 17 rebounds, while also recording six blocked shots. Amaya Collins led coach Stephan Hamaker’s Eagles with 15 points – on five 3-point baskets.

Forest Park's Grace Fleck named Mental Attitude Award winner
Following the game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee named Grace Fleck of Forest Park High School as the winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award in Class 2A Girls Basketball.
The award is presented annually to a senior participant in each classification who was nominated by her principal and coach and has demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.
Fleck ranks first in her senior class academically, is a member of the National Honor Society, the Key Club and Beta Club. She recovered from a major knee injury sustained during her freshman year, was named a co-captain this season and helped guide the Rangers to their first state finals appearance in 22 years. She also represents the Rangers on the varsity soccer team.
She is the daughter of Bruce and Audrey Fleck of Ferdinand, IN and plans to study Nursing at the University of Southern Indiana.
The Indiana Fever and Indiana Pacers, the presenting sponsor of the IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament, presented a $1,000 scholarship to Forest Park High School in the name of Grace Fleck.

South Bend Washington dominates, rolls to title in rematch with Silver Creek
South Bend Washington used a 27-0 run in the first half to take command and roll to a 93-35 win over Silver Creek, avenging a loss to the Dragons in in the 2021 Class 3A title game.
Washington led, 16-10, before freshman Monique Mitchell hit a 3-pointer from the right corner at the buzzer of the first quarter. Before Silver Creek scored again (with just under two minutes left before halftime), the top-ranked Panthers had built up a 43-10 lead and the outcome wasn’t in doubt.
The Panthers (27-3) led, 51-16, at halftime and 72-22 after three quarters.
The game was the first-ever rematch in a Class 3A championship. A year ago, Silver Creek topped the Panthers, 54-48, in the championship contest.
Senior Mila Reynolds led the scoring parade for the winners, netting 21 points, while freshman Kira Reynolds had 17 points and a whopping record 24 rebounds. Rashunda Jones and Kira Reyholds finished with 17 points and Monique Mitchell 14.
Kynidi Mason Striverson led the Dragons with 10 points.
With the win, Washington, coached by Steve Reynolds, claimed its second state title -- with the first coming by the Skylar Diggins-led, 2007 squad that made its second of four-straight state finals appearances.
Coach Scott Schoen’s Dragons finish at 26-3.

Silver Creek’s Emme Rooney named Mental Attitude Award winner
Following the game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee named Emme Rooney of Silver Creek High School as the winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award in Class 3A Girls Basketball.
The award is presented annually to a senior participant in each classification who was nominated by her principal and coach and has demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.
Academically, Emme ranks at the top of her senior class, is president of the Silver Creek Career Academy Program, vice-president of the National Honor Society, and is a Student Athlete Council Representative. She is also one of 15 National Youth Ambassadors for the National Psoriasis Foundation. Along with her high school diploma, Emme will graduate with an Associate’s Degree in General Studies from Ivy Tech Community College in May.
She is the daughter of Dave and Tracy Rooney of Sellersburg, IN and plans to study Global Health while playing basketball at DePauw University.

Shade’s record 31 points leads Noblesville to second state title
Making its first state championship game appearance since back-to-back trips in 1987 and 1988, Noblesville made up for lost time by dominating the fourth quarter to post a 76-52 win over Franklin in the Class 4A championship game.
The Millers of coach Donna Buckley, who had no seniors on its roster, used a near-perfect second quarter to take control, then withstood a Franklin charge in the third quarter by finishing the game on a 23-9 run to claim their second state title (1987).
Noblesville (25-4) rode the back of UConn-recruit Ashlynn Shade, who tied a Class 4A record with a game-high 31 points.
The game was tied, 11-11, in the opening quarter before the Millers scored seven straight points and never trailed again. Noblesville then outscored the Grizzly Cubs, 29-15, in the second quarter, hitting 10-of-12 from the field and 7-of-8 from the free throw line to take a 47-28 lead at halftime.
Coach Josh Sabol’s Grizzly Cubs, however, warmed up in the third quarter and finally pulled within 53-43 after a free throw by Kuryn Brunson with 7:39 remaining in the game.
From there, it was all Noblesville as Shade scored nine points (hitting all four shots from the field) to key the game-ending spurt.
Ava Shoemaker and Reagan Wilson each added 12 points for the winners.
Ashlyn Traylor led Franklin (28-2) with 18 points.

Franklin’s Kuryn Brunson named Mental Attitude Award winner
Following the game, members of the IHSAA Executive Committee named Kuryn Brunson of Franklin Community High School as the winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award in Class 4A Girls Basketball.
The award is presented annually to a senior participant in each classification who was nominated by her principal and coach and has demonstrated excellence in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability.
Academically, Kuryn has been able to excel in the classroom taking AP classes, Honors level, and other challenging courses. She’s a past recipient of her school’s Sportsmanship of the Month Award and is a member of the FCHS Blue Crew, where she’s routinely found at various high school events supporting her classmates.
She is the daughter of Ms. Sarah Price of Franklin, IN. She is undecided on her college choice but hopes to study Psychology while playing basketball.
