These recipients are Indiana’s brightest stars and they embody everything that is right about high school sports. These well-rounded, positive role models have demonstrated excellence in academics, school and community involvement, character, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
The NFHS “National High School Spirit of Sport Award,” seeks to recognize individuals who exemplify the ideals of the positive spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.
This award is unique because it honors both male and female student-athletes at the collegiate and high school level from Indiana who has distinguished themselves by overcoming adversity or injury and returned and excelled beyond expectations in their respective sport(s).
This annual award was created to recognize and honor a devoted servant leader to Indiana high school student-athletes and their community. The award carries the name of Ray Crowe, the late, legendary Hall of Fame basketball coach of Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis who also was a teacher, administrator, politician and government official in our great state.
