Being the #FaceOfSportsmanship is about more than just shaking hands with an opponent at the end of a game. It's about leading by example and representing everything that is good about high school sports and education-based athletics.
The IHSAA's #FaceOfSportsmanship pin is one way for athletic directors to recognize those in our schools who lead by example. It's a tool to promote and recognize students, players, coaches, parents, and fans who do things the right way, even when it's not easy. It can be used to shine a light on the people who set the tone for our communities.
When someone behaves in a way that inspires others in a positive way, athletic directors can award a #FaceOfSportsmanship pin, and promote the values of education-based athletics by posting the pin presentation online using the hashtag #FaceOfSportsmanship.
High school sports in Indiana are about more than wins and losses. They're about lessons learned and the opportunity to grow as a player and person. They're about the character and achievements of student-athletes and school communities that are a result of perseverance and teamwork.
